Pro Superbike racing will return to Atlantic Motorsport Park near Shubenacadie in 2021.

On Sunday, organizers of the Canadian National Superbike Championship announced the initial dates for next season’s championship tour for the national road-racing series.

After delays and restrictions caused by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and related restrictions during 2020, four Pro Superbike races are scheduled for next season.

The race at Atlantic Motorsport Park is slated for July 31 to Aug. 1. Others on the schedule are Grand Bend Motorplex, Ont., (June 11-13), Calabogie Motorsports Park, Ont., (July 10-11) and Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, Bowmanville, Ont. (Aug. 14-15).

“We have based our plans on an expectation of no or extremely limited spectator participation in 2021, much the same as in 2020,” series founder Colin Fraser said in a news release. "Everyone involved is optimistic about the return of our crowds, but we do not expect that to happen until mid-summer of 2021 at the earliest.”

The Atlantic Motorsport Park race this year was cancelled because of Atlantic bubble restrictions.
