Sarah Hill and her Newfoundland and Labrador entry improved to 2-0 at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts Canadian women’s curling championship with a 9-3 win over Lori Eddy’s squad from Nunavut Sunday evening in Calgary.
Hill, Beth Hamilton, Lauren Barron and Adrienne Mercer from the Re-Max Centre/St. John’s Curling Club had opened the event Saturday with an 8-7 win over New Brunswick.
N.L. plays P.E.I.’s Suzanne Birt 5 p.m. today (NT). Birt lost 8-6 to Quebec Sunday to fall to a 2-1 record.
On Sunday, Hill scored three points in the fourth end for a 5-1 lead, and never looked back.
The 18-team event is divided into two nine-team pools for preliminary play. The top four finishers in each pool advance to the championship round.
