Stephenville’s Carmen Elliott has signed a letter of intent to attend the NCAA Division I College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass., starting in September, 2021.

She is a Grade 11 student at Ridley College in St. Catharines, Ont., where she was a 2019-2020 Junior Women’s Hockey League first-team all-star defenceman.

She also won the Colin Brezicki Trophy for dedication, leadership and commitment for the 2019-2020 Ridley prep hockey season.

Elliott ruptured her ACL in March, 2019, and thought her chances of playing Division I college hockey were over. She had surgery in Ontario in April, 2019, and returned to hockey last November.

The Junior Women’s Hockey League is comprised of school and club teams from New England, Chicago and Washington, DC, and British Columbia, Manitoba and Ontario.

Scott Pooley, who helped the Newfoundland Growlers win the 2019 ECHL championship, is a graduate of College of the Holy Cross.
