Just as The Telegram reported last week, the Newfoundland and Labrador Athletics Association has pushed the annual Tely 10 mile road race back to a fall start.

The provincial track and field association announced Thursday the 2020 Telegram 10-Mile Road Race – the 93rd annual race – has been moved from its original date of July 26 to Nov. 1.

“We know how important the Tely 10 is for so many of our supporters, and we hope to provide them with the opportunity to experience this historic event in 2020,” said NLAA technical director George Stanoev. “We encourage everyone to continue to stay active in their own bubble and to practice physical distancing while running/walking outdoors.”

Stanoev said race organizers are committed to the health, safety and well-being of all participants, volunteers and the sporting community.

“We will continue to monitor the latest guidelines from the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador and provide further updates.”

Registration information will be available at a later date.
