Update with Saturday's cancellations

Thee winter storm that slammed eastern Newfoundland has now resulted in the postponement of five Mary Brown St. John's Junior Hockey League games, those that had been scheduled for Saturday having been added to those from Friday

On Friday, the league-leading CBR Renegades were to have been in Bay Roberts taking on the CBN Stars, while the Trinity-Placentia Flyers were supposed to be in Mobile to play the Southern Shore Breakers.

The Renegades eventually had both their weekend games postponed; they had been set to host the Breakers at the Conception Bay South Arena on Saturday.

Saturday's other postponements meant the second-place Mount Pearl Blades — just a point behind the Renegades — won't be meeting the Paradise Warriors at the Glacier, while the St. John's Caps aren't travelling to Goulds Arena tonight to face Avalon, whose roster includes the latest SJJHL player of the week, centre Evan Gallant.

Gallant had six points in two games after the league's Christmas break, including five goals in a win over Northeast.

Sunday's games are still scheduled, at least for now. The Flyers are to take on the Avalon Capitals in an afternoon contest at the Trinity-Placentia Stadium in Whibourne, while the Blades have a night-time get-together versus the Northeast Eagles at the Glacier.
