Magic cast a spell on Hurricanes; will play Edge for championship

The St. John’s Edge will play the Moncton Magic in the 2018-19 National Basketball League of Canada final.

The Magic defeated the Halifax Hurricanes 85-82 in Game 7 of the Atlantic Division final Sunday in Moncton, N.B.

On Friday night, the Edge finished off the KW Titans in six games with a 108-100 win at Mile One Centre in St. John’s.

The Magic will have home court advantage after placing first in the Atlantic Division with a 27-13 regular-season record.

The Edge were second in the Central Division at 21-19.

The best-of-seven championship series will start in Moncton.

St. John’s managed only one win in five tries against Moncton this season, a 98-86 decision on Dec. 29 in New Brunswick.

The Edge dropped three straight to the Magic at the start of the season when St. John’s stumbled to a 1-5 start.
