Strong starts to their 2017-18 Atlantic University Sport have led to volleyballer Kier Fey and Paddy Dawe of the men’s basketball team being named the latest Memorial University athletes of the week.

Fey, a third-year physical education student from Selkirk, Man., had a career weekend in the Sea-Hawks’ 3-0 weekend home sweep of the Universite de Moncton Aigles Bleus.

Fey recorded three consecutive double-doubles on the season-opening weekend, totalling 47 kills, 46 digs, four aces and two blocks in the three matches.

The Sea-Hawks men’s hoopsters lost two games in Wolfville, N.S., to the Acadian Axemen, the conference’s second-ranked team, but Dawe, a second-year geography student from Paradise, was impressive, averaging 14 points, 5.5 rebounds, and two assists. That included a double-double — 18 points and 10 rebounds — in a Saturday-night loss to the Axemen.
