Men in the middle were centrepieces in St. John's Edge's win over Lightning

It seems like too obvious a play on words. But it’s the absolute truth.
The big men came up big for the St. John’s Edge Saturday night.
Glen Davis had 31 points and Obinna Oleka grabbed 24 rebounds as St. John’s extended its winning streak to six games by defeating the London Lightning 109-100 in National Basketball League of Canada play at a jam-packed Mile One Centre Saturday night.
The game, the Edge’s first at home in 2019, was played before 6,073, the largest crowd at Mile One this NBL Canada season.
Junior Cadougan added 17 points, and Maurice Jones chipped in with 16 as starting guards for St. John’s (12-6), which has gone 11-1 since losing five of its first six games of he season.
Defending league MVP Carl English, coming off a calf injury that sidelined him for more than a month, came off the bench for the first time in 46 games with the Edge. While the rust showed in his shooting — he was one-for-six from the floor, missing all five of his three-point attempts— English did have eight rebounds, tied with Davis for second-most on the team, and added three assists in 24 minutes of floor time.
Dez Lee (14) and Jared Nickens (12) gave St. John’s five players in double figures in scoring, while Oleka just missed out on a double-double with nine points.
Xavire Moon had a game-high 33 points for two-time defending champion London (9-12), which has lost four straight games.
Garrett Williamson added 20 points, while Mo Bolden had 15 points and 10 boards for the Lightning, who get another crack at the Edge Sunday afternoon (3 p.m.) at Mile One.
