The East Coast Blizzard extended their record to 8-1 on the year in the Newfoundland and Labrador Major Midget Hockey League with a three-game sweep of the Western Kings at the Goulds Arena over the weekend.

The Blizzard capped the sweep with a 3-1 win Sunday. Riley Spurrell, Noah Rowe and Patrick Beer had the goals for the winners. Skyler Coates replied.

Saturday, it was Andrew Stuckless with a pair of goals for the Blizzard in a 4-3 decision. Chase Wellon and Rowe also scored, with Drew Langdon, Lucas Robinson and Will Keating scoring for the Kings. The Blizzard opened the series Friday night with a 7-2 victory. Caleb Roberts, with a pair, Brady Mitchelmore, Nathan Kelly, Nicholas Moore, Ryan Chislett and Connor Shortall tallied for the East Coast squad, with Robinson and Keating scoring for the Kings.

At the Bay Arena in Bay Roberts, the Tri-Pen Osprey pulled out a 2-1 win over the St. John’s Maple Leafs to salvage one win in their three-game series. The Leafs won the first two games, 4-2 and 8-5, at the Danny Cleary Community Centre in Harbour Grace.
