The honours keep rolling in for 17-year-old St. John’s hockey phenom Alex Newhook.

Newhook is up for two awards in the British Columbia Hockey League, including MVP and rookie of the year.

Newhook will finish the year with 22 goals and 66 points in 45 games for the Victoria Grizzlies. He’s sidelined for the remainder of the regular season after suffering a broken hand in a Feb. 7 game against the Cowichan Valley Capitals.

No surgery is required, and the Grizzlies are hoping Newhook will be ready for the playoffs.

The 5-11, 185-pound centre has committed to attending Boston College in 2019-20.
