Junior hockey player Drew Stonehouse is The Telegram sports department’s choice as athlete of the week.
Stonehouse was the hero last Friday night at Jack Byrne Arena, scoring the series-clinching goal at 9:03 of double overtime as the CBR Renegades defeated the Mount Pearl Blades 3-2 to capture the Mary Brown’s St. John’s Junior Hockey League championship in the seventh and deciding game.
Stonehouse finished the night with a goal and an assist after collecting a helper on Tyler Nickson’s goal to open scoring.
Stonehouse and the Renegades will represent the province in the Don Johnson Cup Atlantic junior B championship April 23-28 in Kensington, P.E.I.
