Distance runner Colin Fewer is The Telegram sports department’s choice as athlete of the week.

Fewer, who set a record for wins with his 10th Tely 10 Road Race victory in July, had a finish that was just as noteworthy last Sunday, placing fifth out of a field of 11,374 participants — 5,869 female and 5,495 male — in the Toronto Scotiabank half-marathon.

Fewer was also the top masters runner (40-plus), finishing in 68:04.

It’s been a banner year for Fewer. Besides the record run in the Tely 10, and last weekend’s result in Toronto, Fewer enjoyed a top 10 showing at the Canadian 5K road racing championship in Toronto last month.

Racing in the B&O Yorkville Run, the national 5K championship, Fewer stopped the clock in 15:07.6
