Junior hockey player Paul Russell is The Telegram sports department’s choice as athlete of the week.
Russell enjoyed a six-point weekend with the Conception Bay North Stars in the Mary Brown’s St. John’s Junior Hockey League last weekend.
The Gander native scored twice and assisted on another last Friday in an 8-7 Stars loss to the Northeast Eagles. The next night, he pulled the trigger on three goals as C.B.N. registered a 6-4 win over the Avalon Capitals.
Russell has appeared in only four games for the 6-3 Stars this season, but has five goals and two assists.
