Memorial University Sea-Hawks basketball star Nathan Barker is The Telegram sports department’s choice as athlete of the week.
Barker was named an all-star at the annual Rod and Joan Shoveller Memorial tournament hosted by Dalhousie University last weekend.
The Corner Brook native scored 18 points and nine rebounds for the Sea-Hawks in a 76-69 win over the Cape Breton Capers in the third-place game. In the tournament-opener Friday, a 105-104 win over Holland College, Barker scored 44 points.
He currently sits in third place in AUS conference scoring with 19.9 points per game.
