The team representing Newfoundland and Labrador registered eight podium finishes at the national Youth Bowling Canada (YBC) five-pin championships which concluded in Regina earlier this week.
There were two gold-medal performances, both in bantam girls divisions. Vanessa Elliot-Lynch of Plaza Bowl in St. John’s was first in the singles competition, while Brooklyn Stride and Abby Tiller of Centre Bowl in Corner Brook took the Canadian title in doubles play.
Stride and Tiller also won silver medals on a bantam mixed team that also included Keegan Ennis and Luke Walsh of Pearlgate Lanes in Mount Pearl.
Walsh and Ennis were double medal-winners as well, taking bronze in bantam boys doubles
Also winning silver was the N.L. senior mixed team of Brooke King and Coleton Vrisendiorp of Paradise and Courtney Lucas and Johnny McDonald of St. John’s. In addition, Lucas and King teamed up in senior girls doubles for another silver.
The province’s other two medals came in singles play and both were delivered by competitors out of Corner Brook, with Cody Jacobs capturing silver in bantam boys play and Samantha Davis coming away with a bronze in the senior girls event.
