The 18-year-old from Corner Brook and the Humber Valley Resort, shot a five-over-par 76 to finish four strokes ahead of Dylan Yee of Clovelly in St. John’s and Matthew Bonnell of Blomidon Golf Club in Corner Brook.
Yee was awarded second place by retrogression.
Earlier this season Bruce won the 2017 provincial junior championship at Grande Meadows on the Burin Peninsula, finished third at the Future Links Atlantic junior championship in Dartmouth, N.S., and had the province’s best finish at the Canada Games in Winnipeg.
In juvenile division play Monday, Ethan Efford of Bally Haly Country Club finished first with a 79 and fiving him an eight-stroke win over Nathan Nanayakkara also of Bally Haly. Nathan Young carded a 91 to finish in third place.
Karsen Best of Bally Haly won the bantam boys division, played over the front nine, with a score of 40. Jack Pelley-MacHardy of Grand Falls Golf Club was second with a 44 to finish a stroke ahead of Evan Snow of Gander Golf Club.
Junior female golfer Taylor Cormier of Blomidon had a score of 90, while Paige Allen, also of Blomidon, won the bantam girls title.
