Nathan Young of Torbay will be one of Canada’s curlers at the 2020 Youth Winter Olympic Games in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Joining Young in Switzerland next year are Emily Deschenes, Jaedon Neuert and Lauren Rajala. Positions for the players haven’t been assigned, and will be determined following upcoming training camps leading to the Games.

Sam Follett of St. John’s has been named an alternate to the team.

Young skipped his Newfoundland and Labrador entry to a fourth-place finish at the 2019 Canada Winter Games in Red Deer, Alta.

He dropped an 8-7 game to Manitoba in the bronze-medal game after falling behind 8-0 after three ends.

Young is a Grade 11 student at Gonzaga High School in St. John’s.

Twenty-four countries will send mixed teams to the 2020 Youth Winter Olympics.
