The St. Lawrence Laurentians, a perennial contender in Johnson’s Challenge Cup soccer, continue to struggle in the early goings of the 2019 campaign.

The Laurentians split a pair of games this past weekend to fall to 1-4-1 on the year.

Sunday in C.B.S., That Pro Look Strikers got two goals from Ryan Thistle and shutout goaltending from Scott Budden to beat the Laurentians 4-0. Thistle scored at 58 and 72 minutes. Ranaldo Morris opened scoring at 32 minutes and Erik Mathiason scored in the 65th minute.

Saturday in Paradise, St. Lawrence got its first win of the new season, 3-1 over homestanding Paradise. Stefan Slaney scored at three and 86 minutes for the winners, and Sean Drew sandwiched Slaney’s tallies with a goal at 44 minutes. Gurpreet Singh had the only goal for Paradise, at 54 minutes.

Next action is 7 o’clock Wednesday night when Feildians are in Paradise.
