Sam Hawco posted his third shutout of the year and Tyler Kirby’s first-half goal stood as the game-winner as Holy Cross Kirby Group blanked Feildians 3-0 in Johnson Insurance Challenge Cup soccer play Wednesday night.

At King George V Park in St. John’s, defending champion Holy Cross (4-0) preserved its unbeaten record while handing Feildians (3-1) their first loss of the season.

Jacob Grant and Jeff Slaney had the other goals for the Crusaders, who won’t play again until June 22, when they take on the St. Lawrence Laurentians in the first of two games on a trip to the Burin Peninsula.
