The Southern Shore Crush, one of three Newfoundland and Labrador entries, made it to the semifinal round of the Eastern Canadian under-14 girls softball championship which concluded Sunday in St. John’s.
The Crush, who finished fourth in the round-robin portion of the six team-tourney, dropped a 7-4 decision to the Kitchener, Ont., Klassics White in a Sunday morning Page playoff game at Lions Park. That left Southern Shore with a 2-4 overall record.
Kitchener then defeated the ReMax Ravens of Prince Edward Island in the semifinal, advancing to the final, where it lots to another Ontario team, the Richmond Hill Rebels.
The Rebels had earlier downed the Ravens 14-4 in the 1-2 Page playoff contest. It was the first loss for the P.E.I. team, which had gone 5-0 in preliminary play.
An entry representing Outer Cove, which was the host association for the Eastern Canadian tournament, was 1-4 in the round robin, while Conception Bay Central was winless in five games.
