The 3 Cheers Pub Bud Light Dodgers managed just four hits but nevertheless scored twice as many runs as they defeated the NTV Hitmen 8-5 Thursday night to take a 2-0 lead in the Molson St. John’s senior men’s fastpitch finals.
Winning pitcher Colin Walsh allowed seven hits and no walks while striking out 14.
Loser Robbie Greene struck out 11, but the Hitmen’s cause was undone by seven walks, four passed balls and errors, which helped produce five unearned runs.
National team member Kyle Ezekiel had a two-run first-inning home run for the Hitmen.
Brad Ezekiel had two doubles and Sheldon Keough delivered a two-run single for the Hitmen.
Game 3 in the best-of-seven series is 1 p.m. Saturday at Lions Park.
