The St. John’s Edge were busy over the weekend, signing one player to a contract and acquiring negotiating rights to another.

Nick Banyard, a 6-foot-8, 225-pound forward out of the NCAA Division I University of Central Florida, signed for the 2018-19 season. Banyard made his pro debut last season with Rayos de Hermosillo of the Mexican league, averaging 13 points and seven rebounds through nine games.

The Edge also picked up Guillaume Boucard’s rights from the Sudbury Five for cash considerations.

The 6-foot-6 guard from Montreal, who attended Ottawa’s Carleton University, was one of the Niagara River Lions’ top players in the NBL Canada last season, averaging 17 points, seven rebounds and three assists per game.
