Playing with only 10 players dressed, the St. John’s Edge mounted another furious comeback just as they did prior to Christmas in a memorable game against the Hurricanes in Halifax.

But unlike that game at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax, in which St. John’s erased a 24-point deficit only to lose by one on the game’s final possession, the Edge overcame a 21-point deficit against the Moncton Magic and win 98-86 Saturday night for their sixth straight National Basketball League of Canada victory.

It also comes against the best team in the league, which entered Saturday’s game 11-2. The Edge improve to 7-5 and now sit atop the Central Division.

The Edge played without the services of Carl English, who is nursing a calf injury, and Satnam Singh.

Trailing 76-65 at the half, the Edge came alive in the fourth quarter to overtake the Magic and seal the win, outscoring Moncton 33-10.

Dez Lee again led St. John’s in scoring with 25 points. Glen Davis enjoyed his biggest game since joining St. John’s, with a season-high 20 points and seven rebounds off the bench.

Obinna Oleka scored 10 points and pulled down 11 boards. Through five games played, Oleka is averaging 12.2 rebounds.

The Edge look to make it seven wins in a row with a game against the Hurricanes Sunday in Halifax.
