In a story in the May 15 edition of The Telegram, it was reported the recent induction of Mike Davis into the Softball Newfoundland and Labrador Hall of Fame meant the softball-playing Davises of Fox Harbour joined baseball’s Colbournes of Corner Brook as the only families to have five members inducted into a provincial hall of fame in a single sport.

Wayne Faulkner

That was wrong.

As pointed out by senior hockey historian Jerry “Stats” Elliott, the Faulkners of Bishops Falls have five members in Hockey NL’s Hall of Fame. The story had mentioned George, Alex, Gene and Jack Faulkner as being provincial hockey Hall of Fame inductees, but omitted Wayne Faulkner, who was the second highest point-getter in the history of the Grand Falls Cataracts and a member of three Herder Trophy-winning teams. He was inducted in 2013.

The Telegram regrets the error.
