High school basketball: They got in one game on opening day of Clarence Sutton Memorial Classic

The O’Donel Patriots downed the defending champion St. Kevin’s Mavercks 78-49 in the opening game of the 10th annual Clarence Sutton Classic Memorial basketball tournament Thursday at St. Kevin’s High gymnasium in Goulds.

It was the only game played. Other games scheduled for Thursday were cancelled because of inclement weather.

Four games are scheduled for today in the event, which involves eight metro-area girls high school teams. The event is set to finish Sunday.
