Host Galway dropped to 0-4 at the Miller Lite Canadian senior women’s softball championship with a pair of losses on Day 2, but the St. John’s team can take some comfort it played Ontario tough in the marquee game Thursday evening at Lions Park.
Galway lost 4-2, which can only be seen as a positive after losing 8-1 in four innings to Saskatchewan2 earlier in the day.
Wednesday, Galway lost twice, 8-4 to Quebec and 13-5 to Saskatchewan1.
The Newfoundland and Labrador representative, the Animal Health Centre Wildcats from the west coast of the province, was 0-3 heading into a game against Saskatchewan 2 Thursday night. The provincial rep lost 8-1 in five innings to Ontario 1 earlier in the day.
