To nobody’s surprise, it will be Holy Cross-Avalon Ford and Feildians-Green Sleeves in the all-important Page Playoff 1-2 game as the provincial Jubilee Trophy women’s soccer championship opens Friday in St. John’s.

Jubilee Championship Weekend will be played at King George V Park, where the Crusaders and Double Blues get things going 6 p.m. Friday. The winner goes directly to Sunday’s final and gets a day of rest, while the loser will play in Saturday’s 2 p.m. semifinal, against the winner of a Mount Pearl-C.B.S. game. That latter game is 8:15 Friday night.

Regardless who wins the provincial championship — the final is 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon — the two teams in the last game will be playing in the national championship which kicks off Oct. 9 in St. John’s as Newfoundland and Labrador has two entries.
