Jason Hill of St. John’s, Kyle Ezekiel of Holyrood and Jeremy O’Reilly of Placentia will don Canada’s colours in the event, which is a qualifier for the 2019 Pan Am Games in Peru. The top five teams from a pool of 16 move on to Peru.

While Hill is a veteran of the national team, Ezekiel and O’Reilly are relative newcomers. That’s because a number of veterans aren’t making the trip to the Dominican due to a busy summer and work commitments.

Among them are Newfoundland national team members Stephen Mullaley of Freshwater, Ryan and Shane Boland of St. John’s, Sean Cleary of Harbour Main, Brad Ezekiel (Kyle’s brother) of Holyrood and Colin Walsh of Petty Harbour.

Those six played for Canada in the recent ISC world championship in Whitehorse, Yukon, where Canada placed third.

Hill did not travel to the Yukon in July as his wife was expecting their first child at that time.

John Hill of St. John’s and C.B.S. resident Les Howey are assistant coaches on John Stuart’s squad in the Dominican.

Canada’s first game is Friday against Costa Rica.
