Memorial Sea-Hawks soccer teams didn’t score any goals, but they didn’t give up many either as they hosted league-leading entries from Cape Breton in Atlantic University Sport play at King George V Park over the weekend.
Both the men’s and women’s Capers teams remained undefeated after their visit to King George V Park in St. John’s, but their Sea-Hawks counterparts each salvaged a point by playing to scoreless draws on Sunday.
Goalkeepers Sydney Walsh of the Memorial women (3-2-3) and Sam Hawco of the MUN men (1-4-3) came up with some big stops for their Sunday shutouts.
Also noteworthy is the fact that Sunday’s women’s contest marked the first time in seven games this season that Cape Breton (6-0-1) hadn’t posted a win.
On Saturday, the Cape Breton men (5-0-2), prevailed 2-0, while the Capers women edged the Lady Hawks 1-0.
The weekend contests represented the last action for some time for the Sea-Hawks, who don’t play again until the weekend of Oct. 20, when they travel to New Brunswick for games against UNB and Moncton.
