This past weekend couldn’t have gone much better for Memorial University swimmer Jasmine Foran.
The first-year Sea-Hawk from Bathurst, N.B., won seven medals, including four gold, at the 2018 Atlantic University Sport Swimming championships held in Saint John, N.B., over the weekend. In all, she was a participant — as an individual or on relay teams — in half of Memorial’s 14 medal finishes at the meet.
Foran was also named the AUS female rookie swimmer of the year at the awards banquet held in conjunction with the championships.
One of Foran’s gold-medal finishes in Saint John — in the 100-metre breaststroke — produced an AUS record and also a qualifying time for the U Sports national swimming championships in Toronto later this month.
She also qualified for the nationals in the 50-metre breaststroke, as did Memorial teammate Veronica Reid. They finished 1-2 in the final of that event at the conference championships.
