The Memorial Sea-Hawks women’s basketball team, fresh off a two-game sweep of Saint Mary’s University last weekend, take on the Acadia Axewomen in a pair of Atlantic University Sport games this weekend.
The Sea-Hawks men’s squad is also in action against Acadia at the Field House.
The Lady Birds are 2-2 this year following 68-42 and 85-75 wins over the Huskies last weekend in St. John’s.
The Axewomen arrived in town with a 3-1 record, their only loss coming last weekend in a 70-62 setback to UPEI.
The Sea-Hawks and Axewomen entered the 2018-19 AUS season tied for third sport in the coaches pre-season rankings.
Memorial is led offensively by a pair of Sydneys — Sydney Ezekiel is fifth in conference scoring with 16.8 points per game, while Sydney Stewart is seventh in the AUS, averaging 15.8 per game.
Game times are 6 p.m. today and noon Saturday.
The men’s basketball team is looking for its first win after starting the season 0-3. The Sea-Hawks dropped an 86-78 game to the Huskies last Sunday. Saturday’s game was postponed because of a power outage at the Field House.
The Axemen are 1-3. Acadia’s only win came last Sunday, a 92-81 decision over UPEI.
Third-year Nathan Barker has been a bright spot for the Sea-Hawks, leading the AUS with 26 points-per-game. Rookie Emmanual Ring is averaging 16.3 per game.

Meanwhile, the Sea-Hawks women’s volleyball team returns to action following a bye weekend.
The Sea-Hawks are in Wolfville, N.S. for an AUS tournament hosted by Acadia University.
Memorial will play five games over three days, which includes matches against each team in the conference.
