CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – Volleyball players Zayley Murphy and Riley O’Keefe have been named the Holland College Hurricanes athletes of the week.
Murphy, in her first season with the Hurricanes, is a five-foot-10 setter from Conception Bay South, N.L.

She recorded four kills, two aces, four digs and a match-high 26 assists Saturday to lead the ‘Canes to a straight-sets sweep over the Université de Sainte-Anne Dragons.  She followed it with a kill, two aces, a dig and 22 assists on Sunday in another straight-sets victory over the Dragons.

With injuries to the Hurricanes lineup, Murphy moved from her outside position to setter to lead the ‘Canes to back-to-back wins.

O’Keefe, a six-foot-two middle from St. John’s, N.L., helped guide the ‘Canes in a weekend series versus the UNBSJ Seawolves in Saint John, N.B.
O’Keefe recorded four kills and two aces in a straight-sets win Saturday over the Seawolves. The first-year ’Cane recorded 12 kills, two aces and three digs in Sunday’s five-set loss.
