A team from the Mushuau Innu School Natuashish in Labrador is competing in its first-ever provincial championship as it takes part in the School Sports NL girls varsity 2A volleyball competition hosted by Cloud River Academy in Roddickton this weekend.
A total of 32 girls' v-ball teams are participating in four separate championships, with the A event at Southwest Arm Academy in Little Hearts Ease, the 3A tourney at Pasadena on the province’s west coast, and the 4A competition hosted by Mount Pearl Senior High.
The 4A event also involves Gonzaga and Holy Heart of St. John’s, Holy Spirit of Manuels, Queen Elizabeth of Foxtrap, Exploits Valley of Grand Falls-Windsor, Clarenville and Corner Brook.
Another two SSNL titles are up for grab this weekend as 10 teams compete in indoor soccer, with both events on the Burin Peninsula — the 3A in St. Lawrence and 4A in Marystown.
Mount Pearl and Gonzaga the other teams entered in the 4A championship.
Play in all events was set to begin today and conclude Sunday.
