Ten athletes and two coaches from this province are part of the Canadian senior men’s softball pool for next season.

Softball Canada made the announcement over the weekend. Forty-three players have been named, meaning Newfoundland and Labrador makes up almost a quarter of the player pool.

The national team will not compete in 2018, although a development camp is scheduled for June in Ontario. The team is gearing up for the 2019 world men’s championship in the Czech Republic.

John Stuart of Langley, B.C. is the head coach, and will be assisted by John Hill of St. John’s and Les Howey of C.B.S.

Among the Newfoundland players in the pool are Ryan and Shane Boland of the Goulds, Blair, Brad and Kyle Ezekiel of Harbour Main, Sean Cleary of Harbour Main, Jason Hill of St. John’s, Steve Mullaley of Freshwater, Jeremy O’Reilly of Placentia and Colin Walsh of Petty Harbour.
