The air was hot and so were the Snook twins at the IMG Academy Junior World Championships being hosted at Torrey Pines in San Diego, Ca. on Wednesday.

Mila and Freya played in the blistering heat and to say that may have helped them along might be an understatement.

"Mila shot the round of her life with an eight-over. This included two triple bogies, but she was just plus two on the other 16 holes,”  her father Brent Snook said via email.

“She had two birdies on the day to cap off her run."

This moved her up the leaderboard by nine spots after day two, sitting in 35th position.

A heartbreaking nine by Freya early in the round might have been enough to sink most players, but not her. She got out of the sand trap and this seemed to fuel her the rest of the round.

"She rebounded and accomplished a goal of having two birdies later in the round," Snook said.

"Freya fell six spots (46th) down the leaderboard, but is determined to climb the leaderboard during the final round tomorrow."

Freya shot +14, good for 40th after Round 1 and Mila Shot +15 sitting 44th after Round 1.
