Scott Woodfine scored three times as Holy Cross downed Feildians 4-1 in Johnson Insurance Challenge Cup soccer action Wednesday night at King George V Park in St. John’s.
Woodbine scored a couple goals before the intermisson for Holy Cross (2-1-1), but Thomas Osmond drew Feildians (3-2-0) to within one with his marker midway through the second half.
However, Woodfine’s third goal and a tally by teammate Tyler Kirby late in the game sealed the result for the Crusaders.
The provincial senior soccer schedule resumes Saturday evening when the Dianne Whelan Soccer Complex hosts its first Challenge Cup contest as the St. Lawrence Laurentians (1-0-1) take on home side Paradise, looking for its first win in its inaugural season.
St. Lawrence is also involved in the second game of the weekend as it faces Feildians Sunday afternoon at King George V.
