Newfoundland’s under-18 rugby team beat Dundalk U18s 34-15 Thursday night on the first game of the Rock’s tour of Ireland.

Try scorers were Max Tavenor in the second minute, Hudson Barnaby with a dynamic brace in the first half, and man of the match Ryan Goodyear with the hat trick.

Campbell Clarke converted one, and his younger brother, James, converted a second.

Today at the Connacht Sportsfield, home of the Pro 14 Irish provincial team, the Atlantic Rock U19 regional squad plays Connacht’s U19 team.

Although Connacht is ranked substantially higher than the Rock, the game was scheduled to enhance the Rock’s standard prior to the Canadian Rugby Championship set for St John’s in August.
