Lauren Rowe scored all of her team’s goals and Shannon Galway posted the shutout as Newfoundland and Labrador blanked Prince Edward Island 3-0 in the Atlantic girls under-15 soccer championship Friday in Halifax.
The result evens the NL U15s record at 1-1; they had lost in Thursday’s opening game, falling 2-1 to Nova Scotia, a game that saw Rowe score her side’s only goal.
Halifax is also site of the Atlantic girl U16 tourney, where Newfoundland is 0-2, after a 5-0 setback at the hands of Nova Scotia Thursday and 2-1 loss to P.E.I. Friday.
The Atlantic boys U15 and U16 championships are also underway this weekend in Moncton, N.B.
There, Newfoundland’s U15 boys are 1-1 after beating Nova Scotia 4-2 Thursday and losing 2-1 to the host New Brunswickers Friday.
Aaron Pritchard, with two goals, and Reggie Pike scored for Newfoundland in the victory over Nova Scotia. The other NL tally came through an own goal.
The NL U16 boys are 0-2 after being blanked 1-0 by New Brunswick Friday. They had lost to Nova Scotia by the same score Thursday.
Today in Moncton, the NL boys team take on Prince Edward Island. Meanwhile, in Halifax, the Newfoundland girls both play New Brunswick.
