Feildians were held to a tie Sunday in Johnson’s provincial Challenge Cup soccer, but the valuable point solidified the Double Blues’ lock on second place in the five-team provincial circuit.

At King George V Park Sunday, Stavanger Drive Dental Feildians and third-place C.B.S. Strikers played to a 1-1 draw, giving the Double Blues 28 points on the year, five behind Holy Cross but an eight-point lead on the Strikers.

C.B.S. could have closed the gap Saturday, but fell short, losing 2-0 to the Laurentians in St. Lawrence.

Sunday, Ryan Thistle opened scoring for C.B.S. three minutes in. Felly Elonda scored for Feildians at 53 minutes.

Saturday, Brent Hennebury scored at 54 minutes and Brent Kelly at 71 for the homestanding Laurentians, who received shutout goaltending from Ryan Turpin.

At King George V Saturday, Holy Cross improved to 11-2 with a 4-0 win over lowly Paradise. Jacob Grant (8 and 37 minutes) and Owen Sheppard (13 and 52 minutes) both enjoyed two-goal games, and Sam Hawco posted the shutout.
