Gavin Tucker will return to the cage after a nearly 14-month layoff.

Tucker, a Ship Cove native who holds a 1-1 record in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, will be looking for a fresh start at 135 pounds when he’s welcomed to the bantamweight division by Andre Soukhamthath (1-3 UFC record) at UFC Fight Night 138 Oct. 27 at SMG Moncton in Moncton, N.B.

After starting his MMA career with 10 consecutive wins, the 32-year-old experienced his first loss at UFC 215 back in September when he took a brutal three-round beating at the hands of Rick Glenn in a battle that led to hefty criticism of referee Kyle Cardinal for not stopping the fight when it was evident Tucker was taking unnecessary punishment.

Soukhamthath returns to the octagon for the first time since losing a ‘Fight of the Night’ bout to Sean O’Malley at UFC 222 in March. The 29-year-old has lost three of four during his UFC tenure with two of those defeats coming via split decision and his lone victory coming against Luke Sanders at UFC Fight Night 123 in December.
