Carl English had a night like no other Saturday.

The star guard from Patrick's Cove sank a league-record 58 points to lead the St. John's Edge to a 127-117 win over the KW-Titans in National Basketball of League of Canada game at Mile One Centre.

Englsih eclipsed the previous single-game scoring record of 56 points established by Devin Sweetney of the Moncton Miracles in a contest at Montreal in 2013.

The 37-year-old Newfoundlander was 17-for-33 from the floor, including 11-for-20 from three-point range. He also hit on 13 of 14 of his free throws, including one late in the fourth quarter that set the new league standard.

It's the second 50-plus scoring game by an Edge player this year: Charle Hinkle had 53 points in a road win over the Windsor Express in mid-December, meaning St. John's has two of the top three single-game scorers in league history.
