The City of St. John’s handed out over $500,000 this week in the form of direct cash grants and waiving of permot fees and for local non-profit groups and organizations.

Three sports groups received cash grants.

The Swilers Rugby Club received $100,000, money which will be put towards a new grass turf on the main rugby pitch. The Royal St. John’s Regatta Committee received $39,732, which will be used towards purchase of a safety boat, while the St. John’s Legends swim club received $5,000, and that’s been earmarked towards the purchase of a new timing system for the Aquarena.
