The St. Peter’s Junior High Pythons of Mount Pearl will play the 204 Cardinal of Manitoba today in the round of 16, the first playoff round in the boys under-14 Tier 2 division at Volleyball Canada’s national club championships in Edmonton.
The Pythons went 1-2 in three preliminary games Sunday, but bounced back to win three straight matches — two over Alberta teams and the other over a British Columbia entry — in Monday’s “power pools,” putting the Newfoundland team in the playoff round.
St. Peter’s has a 9-7 record in sets, with 292 points for and 277 against.
