Swimmers named Sea-Hawks athletes of the week

A pair of swimmers who starred for Memorial University at the 2018 AUS swimming championships are the latest Sea-Hawks varsity athletes of the week.
Jasmine Foran took the female honours after claiming seven medals — including four gold medals in individual events — at the conference championships in Saint John, N.B., over the weekend.
Foran a first-year student from Bathurst, N.B., was named the AUS female rookie swimmer of the year to start the weekend. Once she hit the pool, she proved the wisdom of that selection by finishing first in the 50-. 100-, and 200-metre breaststroke and 200 individual medley. Her other medals came in team relay events —  a silver in the 400 medley and two bronze in freestyle relays (400 and 800m).
Sam Leawood, a fifth-year athlete from Mount Pearl is the male athlete of the week after claiming three medals at the AUS championships. Leawood claimed bronze medals as part of Memorial teams in the 400m medley and the 400m freestyle relays. He also won a bronze in the 100-metre freestyle.
