The 2019 Tely Tour junior golf series kicked off another season Tuesday, with the Harmon Seaside Links Junior Invitational in Stephenville.

Paige Allen, the 2018 bantam girls champion, picked up where she left off last year as she won the initial competition in girls’ bantam play, carding a 45 and a three-stroke win over Kali Gill.

Rosie Allen recorded a 49 to take third place, just one stroke behind Gill. The top three finishers are members of Blomidon Golf Club in Corner Brook.

Sam Budgen of Blomidon recorded a 44 to take top spot in the bantam boys division, with a two-stroke win over Floyd Wood of Harmon Seaside Links and Alex Elms of Humber River Golf Club in Deer Lake. Both finished tied for second with a score of 44.

In the boys’ juvenile division, 2018 Harmon Junior Invitational winner Jack Pelley-MacHardy of Grand Falls Golf Club captured the title with a score of 81, and six-strokes ahead of Karsen Best of Bally Haly Country Club in St. John’s. Noah Belliveau of Harmon Seaside Links placed third with a score of 92.

Fresh off her first victory on the Maple Junior Tour, Taylor Cormier of Blomidon Golf Club carded a 79 to take the juvenile girls top spot, while fellow Blomidon Club member Aideen Nelsen claimed second place.

Since its inception in 2006, the Tely Junior Golf Tour, sponsored by The Telegram and Golf Newfoundland Labrador (Golf NL), has been a volunteer, non-profit initiative in support of junior golf.

The Tour was created to provide an introductory competitive pathway and rules education opportunity for young golfers wishing to transition from recreation to competitive golf.

The next event on the Tely Tour is the Blomidon Junior Invitational in Corner Brook Wednesday.
