For the second straight week, a member of the Mark’s Mount Pearl Blades junior hockey team is The Telegram sports department’s choice as athlete of the week.
Blades forward Michael Broders had a goal and six assists in four games to lead Mount Pearl in scoring through the round-robin at the Don Johnson Cup Atlantic junior B hockey championship last weekend outside Sydney, N.S.
The Blades reached the tournament final, but lost 4-1 to the host Kameron Junior Miners in the championship game.
Broders finished fifth in St. John’s Junior Hockey League scoring this season (16 goals-26 assists in 24 games), but led all scorers (10-15 in 12 games) in the post-season scoring race.
