Brad Gushue and his two-time defending Canadian men's champions from St. John’s are 1-1 through the first two games of their 2018-19 curling season.
The foursome, which also includes third Mark Nichols, second Brett Gallant and lead Geoff Walker, opened the Princess Auto Elite 10, a Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling event, with 4-1 win over Jason Gunnlaugson of Winnipeg on Wednesday night in Chatham, Ont. then lost its lone game on Thursday, falling 3-2 to veteran Glenn Howard of Ontario.
Gushue has two games today, against John Epping of Ontario and Bruce Mouat of Scotland.
The event is played using a skins format, where teams earn a point by winning ends. An end is won by scoring two points with the hammer, or by stealing without last-rock advantage.
