The province’s first-ever club female under-16 basketball league got underway with two games Thursday night at the Newfoundland and Labrador Sports Centre.
Killick Coast defeated Valley Elite 33-13 as Abby Carpenter led a balanced attack with 10 points for the winners. Sara Mack had six points to lead Valley.
In Thursday’s other game, NKD 1 defeated NLBT 1 54-37. MK Edwards showed the way for NKD with 13 points while Makayla Williamson scored nine to lead NLBT.
League resumes Sunday with two games, with 6 p.m. starts at the Sports Centre.
