Three Newfoundland and Labrador basketball players helped the Mount Saint Vincent University Mystics win the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association women’s championship this past weekend at Crandall University in Moncton, N.B.
Kelsey Crocker of St. John’s scored 13 points, Kelsey McGrath of Torbay netted 10 and Maria Carroll of St. John’s scored nine and drew seven assists as the Mystic beat St. Thomas University Tommies 76-41.
It capped off an undefeated ACAA season for Mystics, who went 23-0 through the regular season and playoffs.
Mount Saint Vincent will now represent the ACAA at Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association national March 14-17 in Sainte-Foy, Que.
Carroll, a fifth-year point guard, was the ACAA’s player of the year and a first-team all-star. Crocker is a second-year wing and McGrath a fourth-year point guard.
