Canadian Premier League soccer season to be played in Charlottetown

SYDNEY, N.S. — The Canadian Premier League’s 2020 soccer season will be held in Charlottetown.

League commissioner David Clanachan announced plans Wednesday for a league hub in the Prince Edward Island capital, with games set to start on Aug. 13.

The league’s eight teams will play all of their games on the Island and players will begin reporting for training on Aug. 8.

The season will feature one game per day and the season will run until mid-September, with the playoffs to follow.

Cape Breton Capers players Peter Schaale (Halifax), Cory Bent (Halifax) and Isaiah Johnston (York9 FC) are expected to play with their respective teams this season.
